Not too long ago I took a trip to Shaker Village in Pleasant Hill, Kentucky (back when taking trips for no reason was alright to do). Shaker architecture has long been an influence. And after years of looking at projects in books and scrolling Pinterest for images, it dawned on me that I should make the trip to see it in person. The shakers are often called the first minimalists. Their designs have simple, clean lines and utilitarian purpose. It’s wild that 200 years later they can still manage to look fresh.
