Sometimes a project is about bringing life back to a home that’s lost its way. Years of patchwork maintenance and half-hearted renovations had left this house in an odd state, but luckily the client was in love with its potential.  We teamed up with Leanne Ford to help transform the turn-of-the-century groundskeeper’s cottage back to a place of warmth and refuge.

The new layout is informal and welcoming, perfectly in tune with the clients’ lifestyle of cooking and entertaining.  We used honest materials that would become more charming with age — marble, reclaimed oak, patinated copper. The kitchen ceiling is old hardwood flooring reclaimed from another room in the house.  The arched shower room ceiling lends a sense of sanctuary.
